All along the ceiling of Big Bat's Pine Ridge store is the memorable
Lakota Life Mural by
Don Montileaux

an Oglala Lakota Artist

This 106 foot mural reads from right to left and tells a total of four stories through out the store. Each story starts with grandfather the storyteller-a symbol which looks like one of the two images above. When he first appears he tells the story of the "Buffalo Calf Woman", when he appears again the story changes to the "Twins", followed by "The Horse Story" and the "Pow-wow". There is a pamphlet for a self-guided walk through these culturally rich Lakota Life Murals in our store, or you can click on the links below to read the stories yourself.
